A wonderful close encounter with the barn owl on tonights #patchbirding as it took a short rest from hunting . It was so close , I held my breath and froze !

A few flyovers are usually the sum of the annual @PatchBirding Hobby records, here in Herts. It was a change to spot one from garden today, perched in an oak - much to the annoyance of the local Swallows! #PWC2026 #hertsbirds

It’s such a lovely time of year on #patchbirding with all the fledglings . Today I saw the 1st sedge warbler young 🥰

A superb singing male Spotted Flycatcher at the Hothfield Waterfall Lake this evening whilst out #patchbirding. #PWC2026 Year tick ✅ #91. The juveniles here last year might very well have been locally bred after all. Also the GC Grebe & Reed Warbler are still at the reservoir.
