The group's KC IMAGINE Project, launched around 2019, envisions transforming the 10,000 sq. ft. McConahy Building (designed by architect Nelle Peters in 1921) into a multi-use facility with a recreated 1922 Laugh-O-gram Studio as part of a Museum of Animation, a Flex Studio for digital media training in partnership with digiSTORY KC and 15 regional colleges, a co-working space via Plexpod, and a Welcome Center featuring a soda/coffee shop, gift shop, and outdoor theater. I drive by the building (and the Disney family home a couple of blocks away) from time to time…it’s a slow process.
