📌 Uganda Diaspora Day of Protest Demanding an End to Abductions, Torture, and Forced Disappearances of Civilians and Political Opponents of the Museveni Regime — Sept 13, 2025
All diaspora chapters and allied Ugandan communities will organize peaceful demonstrations in major cities around the world on Saturday September 13th 2025 in addition to Public petitions and written appeals to governments, parliaments, and international bodies to demand accountability and the call for justice.
Why we protest:
• Abductions, torture, forced disappearances, and indefinite detentions of civilians and political opponents in Uganda.
• Repression of peaceful political party activities ahead of elections, undermining the foundations of democracy.
• A deteriorating economy, rising unemployment, and an increasing cost of living affecting everyday Ugandans.
• The urgent need for international attention and action to end cycles of violence and impunity.
What we are calling for:
• Peaceful, non-violent demonstrations that respect local laws and safety guidelines.
• Immediate, unconditional release of all political prisoners and detainees unjustly detained for exercising democratic rights.
• Targeted sanctions on individuals responsible for human rights abuses, corruption, and repression.
• Diplomatic pressure and international accountability to uphold human rights and democratic norms.
• Engagement from the international community to ensure free, fair, and peaceful elections in 2026.
How you can participate:
• Join or organize a peaceful demonstration in your city or region.
• Sign and support petitions calling for the release of detainees and accountability for abuses.
• Contact your elected representatives to urge sanctions, aid reviews, and human rights engagement with Uganda.
• pShare verified information on social media using approved hashtags that promote non-violent advocacy and factual reporting.
International advocacy asks:
• Impose targeted sanctions on individuals directly responsible for abductions, torture, and detention.
• Condition foreign assistance on respect for human rights and steps toward democratic governance.
• Monitor and report abuses; publish transparent findings to inform policy and public awareness.
• Support civilian protections, civic space, and a credible path to credible elections.
Your voice matters. Through peaceful action, you can help spur accountable governance and a more just future for Uganda. Raise your concerns with diplomacy, civic engagement and solidarity. Justice, dignity, and freedom for all Ugandans are non-negotiable.
