🚨 BCCI Sends Clear Message To Franchises Over Foreign Players Pulling Out Mid IPL - Foreign Player Drama? Not BCCI's Problem! Franchises are fuming over stars like Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Sam Curran bailing out mid tournament due to injuries or other commitments. BCCI's clear message: Sort it out between you and the player. Teams are the "custodians" – handle your own deals. (Remember Jofra Archer? Rules are strict on non-injury pullouts with bans.) - No Massive Purse Hike Anytime Soon. Current auction purse is ₹125 crore, but BCCI wants a gradual approach, not a football/NFL style explosion. Why? Many players vanish after one big payday, franchises pay extras under the table, plus match fees (₹7.5 lakh/game) and sponsorships. Holistic view needed, can't just keep pumping money. - Future IPL Overhaul Incoming, From 2028, expect 94 matches (up from 74). Best window? Early March to mid-May to dodge monsoons. Might mean shifting bilaterals and fighting viewer fatigue – cricket can't go full soccer mode without all boards aligning.

What counts as gifted and talented and how the programs are instituted vary wildly across the country, which is part of what makes this conversation frustrating You've got 1 hour pullouts for the 80th percentile being compared to dedicated full-time 98%tile classrooms

Tesla Robotaxi being live in a few Texas cities is genuinely interesting. But as an avid FSD user, the consumer product still lives or dies on trust in boring moments: missed exits, weird pullouts, construction, parking, and knowing when I need to take over.

Elon Musk largely “defeated” the advertiser pressure by refusing to fully capitulate on content moderation/censorship demands, diversifying X’s revenue away from ads, publicly confronting the boycotters, and pursuing legal action. How It Unfolded After Musk acquired Twitter (now X) in late 2022 for ~$44 billion, he prioritized free speech — reducing heavy content moderation, reinstating banned accounts (including Donald Trump), and releasing the “Twitter Files” showing prior censorship. This led to concerns from brands about their ads appearing next to controversial, hateful, or “unsafe” content. Major advertiser pullouts accelerated in late 2023 after Musk endorsed an antisemitic post (which he later called his “worst and dumbest” tweet) and amid reports (e.g., from Media Matters) of ads next to problematic content. Revenue dropped sharply — U.S. ad revenue reportedly fell from ~$4.5B in 2022 to lower figures in following years. Musk’s response: • Public defiance: At the 2023 NYT DealBook Summit, he told boycotting advertisers to “go fuck yourself,” called it blackmail, and said if X went bankrupt, “the whole world will know the advertisers killed the company.” He singled out Disney CEO Bob Iger. • Prioritizing principles: He stated he’d choose free speech over money and wouldn’t let advertisers dictate censorship. • Revenue diversification: Pushed X Premium subscriptions, creator revenue sharing, and other streams (e.g., payments, ads from smaller players) to reduce reliance on big brands. Subscriptions help “resist censorship pressure from advertisers.” • Counterattacks: Sued Media Matters for its reports. X filed antitrust lawsuits against the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM) — a World Federation of Advertisers initiative — and specific companies, alleging an illegal coordinated boycott. (Some suits faced dismissal or mixed results.) • Longer-term resilience: X survived the hit. Musk’s broader businesses (Tesla, SpaceX, xAI) continued thriving, and by 2026 his net worth milestones were celebrated by supporters as validation. He didn’t eliminate all moderation but resisted broad advertiser-driven censorship, betting the platform’s value as an uncensored “digital town square” would sustain it. Key Advertisers Who Pressured/Pulled Back Most Major brands paused or stopped spending, often citing brand safety, hate speech, or antisemitism concerns. Prominent ones included: • Apple (one of the largest prior advertisers) • Disney (Musk directly called out CEO Bob Iger) • IBM • Comcast • Others: Warner Bros. Discovery, Paramount, Lionsgate, Sony, Walmart, Coca-Cola, Uber, Airbnb, Netflix, and more. Lawsuits highlighted groups like Unilever, Mars, CVS Health, Ørsted, Lego, Nestlé, Shell, Pinterest, etc., via GARM coordination. Activists, NGOs (e.g., ADL), and media reports amplified pressure on brands. Musk and X argued this was coordinated censorship rather than organic brand decisions. In short, Musk didn’t “win” by restoring all ad revenue immediately — X took a financial hit — but he preserved the platform’s direction on speech, adapted the business model, and outlasted the boycott through defiance and diversification. Many big advertisers have been cautious since, but X continues operating on its stated principles.

The Persian gulf tanker attacks are a harsh reminder: crew death compensation is layered, slow, and uncertain in war-risk zones. Standard IG P&I excludes war risks (missiles/strikes by state actors). Major clubs (Gard, Skuld, NorthStandard, London P&I) cancelled Gulf/Oman war cover effective 5 Mar 2026 after reinsurer pullouts. Buy-backs exist but expensive limited capacity. Families often rely on: employer liability, MLC/CBA death benefits (USD 60k–120k ), Indian SWFS schemes, unions, and personal insurance (only if war not excluded). Initial govt/union relief hits first; full payouts drag amid disputes. Shipowners: verify your war extensions NOW. Seafarers: demand proof of cover before any Gulf transit.

Challenges: Faced consumer complaints (BBB rating issues in the past), boycotts tied to Lindell's politics, retailer pullouts (e.g., Bed Bath & Beyond), lawsuits, and reported financial strain from legal battles (layoffs, warehouse issues, IRS debt mentioned in court).

My first art posters when I decorated my room at res, (after the Sara Moons and magazine pullouts I left at home), were so peaceful and beautiful. And were by David Hockney. Really loved his work. RIP.
Breaking News: David Hockney, the English artist whose colorful paintings restored the human form to art, defying the abstract schools of the mid-20th century, died at 88. nyti.ms/3S4k0Fx

Look out! The CHP is waiting for you in front of Fred's Place, El Dorado County. This is one of those pullouts on the side of the freeway where you know something else was there once. Fred's Place was a resort and roadhouse built by Anna and Fred Scriggs in 1918 on land leased from the Eldorado National Forest. Fred's Place was located on a long downhill stretch of Highway 50 coming from Lake Tahoe, headed to Placerville. Those 1950s 1.5-ton beasts would gain too much speed and crash. A local lumber supplier had wood cutouts shaped like CHP cars and mounted around the county where needed. Fred's Place closed in 1965. Today, the site of Fred's Place is a Caltrans parking lot and an active speed trap. Some things never change. Coordinates: 38°47'04.01"N 120°14'10.73"W

-> not only lack the style but they also take away the entire aspect of believability. If anything... seeing some half naked weirdo in a strange getup only makes me want to pull the trigger faster. That's one of the reasons why Pullouts are such bad anti-games. I don't respect ->
