I don't remember you opinion on puppetstuff, but I put them in the same category.
In the games it's the puppet. In the books it's Will because the puppet doesn't exist.
In the games his motivation is CC dying. In the books it's jealousy because CC doesn't exist.

Charlieplush makes her awful for no reason
Charliefirst is doesn't really make sense for me
Puppetstuff is contradictory (and makes charlie helping purple guy for no fucking reason)
Willspeaker is better (and makes more sense, in my opinion)

Yeah. PuppetStuff is just awful narratively and doesn’t have good evidence. William stuffs the kids at least in 2 different timelines already, why it would not be the case in the game ?

This could all be metaphorical and rather than Puppetstuff, she just, guided the spirts to the bots as that's where she knew the bodies were to try and get the kids to move on (or even possess as she did to the puppet body).
