-So if the average household saves $2400 as proponents say, who will make up the difference? You claim net neutral, right? The same money has to come from somewhere?!?!
-You understand that government spending will increase, right? Because this will add 7-10% on all construction projects and services procured by government. There is no map to the "Tax on Everything" concept. It's gonna wind up who has the best and most effective lobbyists who gets their carve outs! Not what is equitable!! Why would we just trust legislators?!?!
-Comparisons are made against other states without income taxes, where sales tax is easier to tax people from out of state (NV, FL, TN). And TX has gas/oil revenue. Why aren't proponents comparing the failed KS experiment where dropping income taxes had to be reversed. Seems MO is more similar to KS than the other states Am 5 proponents are pointing to.
-Heard a Republican MO state rep on Friday discuss the importance of protecting lower socioeconomic folks from the negative impact of this change. How would that even begin to work? I think this just a bunch of hand waving!! In fact, any charitable organization that relies heavily on MO state tax credits for their benefactors are gonna be in trouble. I know of at least one domestic abuse shelter that's worried if it will survive Am5.
-All I have heard from proponents of Am 5 is a bunch of pie in the sky, we're all gonna be rich, Libs=bad, and the Missouri budget is in trouble without it (even though it's from irresponsible tax cuts).
