Just over the water from us, in Liverpool they have an old area called The Ropeworks. Long narrow streets where they lay out the ropes and twisted them ...for the many ships that visited back in the day. Not undercover like the factory you visited 😊➰🪢

That was long before I was born long, never had relatives in there (to my knowledge) in my own lifetime. But I remember them looming over the old ropeworks as you headed into the town centre

Cable Street runs from Limehouse in the East to Tower Hill in the West. Named for the ropeworks that were produced here 'cable' being a name for heavy rope produced for shipping. The department store Harrods began life as a small shop in Cable Street in 1833

That’s the “Fid” in Moville. Smaller version of the emigration sculpture were and still are used in rope splicing. Rope making tradition is still very much alive in Moville at Silver Strand Ropeworks!

Well this pup here could not take it anymore, after months and months of fantasising. He finally worked up the courage to get tied up. I was in a good mood to explore other ropeworks on this playful pup. Even gave me a surprise at the end.
