This is a photo of my interview with Coach D, coach of Blair Bartlett. At sixteen, Blair Bartlett is one of America’s most promising young distance runners. Blair ran a masterful 5000m, winning in 15:28.07. Coach Darryl Duncan was an adidas professional runner and his absolute delight in his athletes racing was fun for this observer. My four days at NIN were illuminating. Observing how NSAF has built its programming to provide resources for young athletes, watching five thousand plus athletes run, jump and throw at The house that Norb Sander built, aka @armorynyc was a blast. Justin Lagat, the senior writer for Kenya for #RunBlogRun, spent some time with John Korir this weekend, near Iten, Kenya. John Korir is the 2025 elite male champion at the Boston Marathon! Last fall, John won the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. John Korir, and his brother, Wesley Korir, become the ONLY brothers to win the Boston Marathon in its 129 year history. Wesley won back in 2012. John Korir runs for ASICS and is a tremendous racer. His race in Boston was tremendous, as he broke the field around 20 miles and the field began racing for second place. This is a photo from the first day, I believe, but give me a Mulligan, please. Craig Engels ran in the 800m, moved to the semi-finals, and then did not move on in the 1,500 m. Craig has been on the scene since 2015, competing in the 2016 and 2021 Olympic Trials, and coming oh so close. He ran in Doha, Qatar, in the 2019 World Championships in the 1,500m. A really nice guy, very popular among running geeks, we hope to see Craig racing more this year. His training partner, Donavan Brazier, won the US title at the 800m in spectacular fashion!
