A full 24 hours of "you're not welcome to gather, protest, or even stand in a group." Groups gathered. Roads blocked. People chanting "save our kids." And the response from the police? Not engagement. Not dialogue. A Section 35 dispersal order telling everyone to go home and shut up. "Save our kids." That's what they were chanting. Think about that for a moment. Parents, residents, ordinary people in Burnley are so desperate, so unheard, that they're blocking roads and chanting into the Lancashire evening and what they get back is a legal instrument designed for football hooligans and organised thugs. An entire town told to go home and shut up while the place gets destroyed around them. The "potential for disorder" police speak for "we'd rather clear the streets than address what's got people so angry they're blocking roads on a Saturday night." This isn't Epsom. And the playbook's the same every time: let the underlying rot fester until people can't take it anymore, wait for them to gather, then disperse them with orders and arrests.
