Continuing from our post yesterday, we’re just as excited to announce the 2025 short documentary grantees.🎬🥳Short docs have become a powerful way to explore ideas quickly, clearly, & with impact, and they’re more relevant than ever in today’s storytelling landscape. Here are the selected teams of our 2025 short documentary film grantees who presented compelling film projects that we are honoured to support.
1. The Chair that Listens -Ethiopia
•Director- Tesfamaryam Dargai Molla, Founder of Shega Africa, known for centring marginalised Ethiopian stories and blending folklore with visual storytelling.
•Producer - Aklilu Matewos Gebremichael, producer with over a decade of experience in INT co-productions, and former secretary of the Ethiopian Filmmakers Association.
2. Fisherwoman -Kenya
•Director - Josh ArtKins Omondi, director of Bangarang and The Journalist, with works featured on Netflix, Showmax, and Amazon Prime.
•Producer- AUDREY TANYA, Award-winning producer and co-founder of Jenga Visuals; 2025 Women in Film Awards Best Newcomer and fellow of Red Sea Lab and The Lodge.
3. Firebird -Kenya
•Director -
@wavuamwambonu, filmmaker and journalist with experience editing What’s Eating My Mind and Rooted in Trust, and a fellow of Google News Initiative and Future Females.
•Producer -
@Matridnyagah, founder of Fearless Films and Dada Trust, with work on Watu Wote, SOFTIE, and In My Head.
4. Fresh Off the Paint -Kenya
•Director -
@RichardNderitu, media professional with 18 years of experience across advertising, design, corporate and documentary production.
•Producer - Adaka Lineker, photographer, filmmaker, and creative consultant with 14 years of experience in visual storytelling and brand development.
