So this is a wild play indeed, and if you look at the play-by-play, the issues with the stat program caused the scorer to put this into two plays. This was ruled a single and an RBI, and a double play, but the outs are wrong. This is recorded as a 4626 double play. The third baseman commits a misplay in the middle of this, so he doesn't get an assist, but the Statcrew/Presto program records the putouts on ground ball double plays for the last two digits, so this needs to go into the program as 6U DP A4 A2 A6 to get the fielders correct. HOWEVER, because the runner isn't an assumed out on that misplay, the assist sequence resets as the runner is now attempting to score on the misplay, so this should really be just a 26 double play. I"m not 100% positive on that, so I'm not against the 4626, but I'm prety sure this would just be 26. I could be wrong there and I need to look it up. College baseball stat program problems. SInce both runners are on the base, and no one is forced to advance, the BACK runner is the runner who is out. The front runner than left the base. The base running rule here is do not leave the base until the umpire points to you and says "you are the one who is out"
This game is off the charts. Denison ties it at 10 in top of 9th but Endicott records 2 outs on this sequence, which is under review … call confirmed, both runners at third called out. We go to bottom of 9th, as Endicott can win it and force Game 3

As happens MANY times in college, this play was incorrectly entered. This is an unassisted double play credited to the catcher, and the runner is not charged with a caught stealing. @AuburnBaseball should be credited with a double play. Since it looks like they are using Statcrew, it’s this: Batter: KS 2U DP Runner: X INT If this is using the MLB software, it’s a swinging strikeout, and click the runner and make him out at first base, 2 unassisted, and hit the “interference” radio button. Seriously, the NCAA should make me the czar of college stats for baseball and softball. x.com/11point7/status/205547…

I’ve dealt with the change, and that shouldn’t be it. I’ve obviously used four, and the order is: MLB Stringer program StatInput Statcrew Presto I keep a hand card for all of these, but especially with the first two as sometimes it’s tedious when there are a lot of folks on base.

I was the official scorer for a teenage Little League regional for 20 years. We were the first to use live stats — before gamechanger was ever around. (Automated Scorebook/statcrew) Trust me, I took more than a few bullets from the bleachers. 🤣

What would have been nice is if the NCAA had held Genius accountable. The deal is EIGHT YEARS OLD. They promised to have programs for all sports. And it hasn’t happened. Statcrew was a small company and executed new launches and needs eight times faster than Genius has.

So I’m going to hop into the college space a second, because this does affect a lot of folks (I’m one of them) From the early 1990s onward, SIDs have generally used The Automated Scorebook by StatCrew (heretofore TAS). This is an MS DOS program that runs on 32-bit computers and Windows 7 (Seriously). Many school IT depts. won’t support it anymore. More recently, Presto Stats has been around, and it is similar to StatCrew, but it has issues (some plays cannot be done, and there are some weird technical issues folks have talked about) New to the game is StatInput, which is used in conjunction with the Live Stats application StatBroadcast. The issue is based on a survey, the three programs are being used fairly equally, and the issue is they don’t play nicely. TAS uses PAK files. Presto discontinued PAK files, but can now convert their own XMLs to PAKs. StatInput is XML only. StatInput stats don’t look right on Sidearm sites, but look fine on others. TAS can only broadcast live stats with a work-around program. It’s all a mess because not everyone will use the same thing. Once that is specified, everyone will jump on board. My school was directed by me to go with StatInout, in order to move forward, and it’s getting better. As Bill Bunting noted, the owner is very quick to make program fixes. What would be great is for all to use the MLB program, but it would have to be rebuilt for softball and softball rules. Baseball also has to have some changes for the program to work, which is why for the time being, we went to StatInput. The fact our TAS laptops are from 2004 and 2007 may or may not have influenced this decision. So with all of that, think of the SIDs, who know TAS codes and are now learning StatInput codes, and some (like me) also know the MLB codes. It’s a lot, so pray for college baseball and softball SIDs, or buy them a coffee or a chicken nugget. They would appreciate it lol.
COLLEGE BASEBALL SIDs: Why in box scores so far this season are the pitchers out of order when it comes to when they appeared? Is this a bug related to updated software?

Devil's advocate here ... but it's not the responsibility of the NCAA to provide this; the market will fill the role that StatCrew left behind. If someone wants to invest $2MM into us we'd work to produce a product.

Going to be shouting this from the mountain top for anyone who cares. The NCAA has no excuse to be so ill prepared for the post-StatCrew era. And it's left SIDs scrambling to come up with viable solutions in the short term.
This is a question you should be addressing to the NCAA for failing to provide SIDs a viable successor to now defunct scoring software. SIDs are doing the best they can with what they have to work with. Not their fault. Starts at the top and should be held accountable as such.

I presume StatInput hasn’t gotten better. I had a client using it last year as backup and had to stop late in the game after a screwy situation broke it. Many are backdating computer for StatCrew (with no issues that I’ve heard from FB or BKB games) or are licensing Presto.

Nearly every school is now that NCAA Live Stats has been the standard stat platform for the past 8 years. NLS is much more intuitive and produces more information than StatCrew did. Requires locations for shots, turnovers, etc. and also includes who draws a foul.

The NCAA Live Stats program that nearly every school now uses as it is free, has all kinds of reports you can run, and is miles better than StatCrew, requires a shot location on a made and missed bucket. Some schools still choose not to use NLS but it is now the NCAA standard.

That wouldn’t work in Statcrew. You have to have an X with a DP (and this is a GDP)

Le plateforme StatCrew était retiré du marché. L’ancienne site RSEQ était la seule au Canada utilisant le plateforme DOS. Mais la base de données était toujours pareille.
