Just got back from ASU GSV Summit! Wait… sorry, I meant Israel EdTech Week 🤔 Although with Michael T. Moe (GSV Ventures) and Lev Gonick (Arizona State University) headlining, you’d be forgiven for the confusion.
I’m used to seeing them walk the GSV Summit halls, trailed by eager founders hustling for five minutes of their time. But this week, they joined us here in Israel for the Prime Event of Israel EdTech Week, making themselves available to the local talent, seating in through out the panels and talks, listening and even judging at the pitch competition 👏
It was a rare and powerful day of connecting with fellow Israeli EdTech founders, something we almost never get to do at home, since we’re all busy scaling globally.
When we started TinyTap a decade ago, exits in Israeli EdTech were non existing.
Today, I met multiple founders who exited -
Jonathan Schor who sold CodeMonkey to Tal Education, Yair Shapira whose Amplio was acquired by Quad Partners, Chen Berger whose StudyWise was just picked up by a private equity firm last week. And of course, our own journey at TinyTap, joining forces with Animoca Brands and co launching Open Campus
What’s even better? Most of them are still running the companies or building new ones in Education! Some people don't like it easy...
I was also honored to be the only "Not a Dr." at a panel with Yishay Mor, Daniel Landau PhD, and Alan Bekker, PhD where we dove into the promises and pitfalls of Conversational AI in education - cost, customer forgiveness and experience.
