When I was hiring a new motion designer for OOT, over 300 people applied.
Most portfolios make the same mistakes:
1. DON'T send a Google Drive link for your portfolio, get yourself a proper website with your own domain. It doesn't have to be complicated, just a clean website with your work is enough.
2. Clearly show what you did. If you did just the animation, but not the styleframes - you need to state it clearly.
3. Most motion designers focus so much time on learning animation that they forget that design is the harder skill. You can't out-animate bad designs.
4. Don't show pieces from tutorials. Everybody starting out have animations from tutorial videos you see over and over again.
5. Finally, less is more! it's better to show 5 strong portfolio pieces than 10 meh ones.
