A clinical performance from @SMFC tonight. I particularly liked how Menelaou & Cocks came into the starting 11 & both had very solid matches. IMO, they along with Leech have proven they are players that are 100% interchangeable with the starting 11 (keeping in mind Painter-Andrews is also out injured). The challenge is for other players to gradually reach a similar level. Swibel also showed once again that he is extremely deadly in the box. It’s a different characteristic he excels in when compared to Aguek & Lavalle, & given his goal return he’s been very effective in a South shirt so far. Another feature of Cohadzic’s football were these very direct passes into the forwards. South were able to find Swibel/Mikkola/Uchida in central advanced positions. This was often used by Marco Jankovic, whose expansive passing range is a weapon to bypass disorganised blocks.

GOALS | After going into the break level, four second half goals saw us run out 4-2 winners at Lakeside in an entertaining night of football. Nahuel Bonada opened the scoring, before Jordan Swibel, Jacob Eliopoulos and Charlie Leech all found the back of the net. We now sit on top heading into the Dockerty Cup weekend and then a chaotic month with Oceania Pro League and massive NPL fixtures.

MIKE’S MATCH REPORT ✍️ 🗓️ 31/03/26 @SMFC 4️⃣-2️⃣ @DandyCitySC No disrespect to Dandenong City tonight, however, I suspect they would be relatively thankful they only lost by 2 goals. This was complete domination from the mighty 🔵⚪️ from minute 1 to minute 90, & I lost count of how many golden chances & near misses South had, Sinisa Cohadzic’s men also hit the woodwork at least on one occasion too (perhaps twice). Jordan Swibel alone could’ve scored 4 goals in the second half, honestly speaking I felt this could’ve been an 8-2 scoreline on fair reflection, & that’s keeping in mind Dandy City scored from really their two main attacks. I can’t recall South GK Lopez making a save. It did look at one stage that ex-@SMFC GK Pierce Clark would deny South, but after Bonada capitalised on Swibel’s turn & shot to make it 1-0, the floodgates opened. For South to be so relentless for the full 90 was admirable, they were at times battering a tiring Dandy City defence & displayed a level that is perhaps indicative of the true ceiling of this team when it is rested & at full strength. The familiarity in eachother’s game shone through with some great moments of interplay. This was highly entertaining dominant ⚽️, Ferenc would be proud! There was an also a really good vibe at the stadium, the nice weather helped but having 400-500 odd on a Tuesday night was a pleasant surprise as was the charcoal gyros & top notch souvs, fans were standing up chatting about the match, chanting, enjoying the ⚽️ & eating well. A great night! Hopefully the club can keep it up & consistently elevate the fan experience at Lakeside 🏟️ during NPL matches. South now turns it focus to an important #DockertyCup cup tie away to Hampton East Brighton this Saturday 3pm at Dendy Park.
