Gervonta Davis vs Lamont Roach — A Closer Look
This was supposed to be another Tank showcase. Instead, it turned into one of the most controversial results of the year.
This time, Tank looked more human than ever. He was visibly rattled by Lamont’s power, while his own shots didn’t have the usual fight-changing effect. Despite moving up from 130 lbs, Lamont carried himself with confidence and composure. The supposed “smaller man” was dictating pace, while Tank — the perceived puncher — couldn’t flip the script.
From where I’m sitting, Roach outboxed him. After round 5, I couldn’t find a reason to give Tank another round. Roach was sharper, more consistent, and flat-out stronger down the stretch. He was the “smaller man moving up” — but you wouldn’t know it watching the exchanges.
The low point? Tank dropping to a knee and later turning his back mid-fight, retreating to his corner in confusion. His post-fight explanation? “Hair grease in my eyes.” That moment alone added fuel to the controversy
My breakdown video digs into the flow of the fight, the strange moments, and the sequences that tell the real story of what happened.
