I just got off a call that left me shaking my head. 🙄
Here’s the backstory: My client has been paying for a marketing services for 5-6 months. The key deliverables — the entire point of the service — are still undelivered. So, I joined a call with the vendor to help navigate the issue and find a solution.
But what happened instead?
The vendor flat-out refused to acknowledge they’d missed the mark. It got worse. They became defensive, even questioning why they had to answer to me, despite the fact that my client had asked me to represent their business on the call.
Let me say this clearly: If you are running a business, the ONLY thing that matters is delivering the value you promised. Period.
It doesn’t matter how many meetings you’ve held or how many updates you’ve sent. If the core product or service hasn’t been delivered, everything else is meaningless to the client.
When you fail to deliver what you promised, you fail the customer. And if you can't see that, your business is on a slow but certain path to failure.
To anyone reading this: Please, as a business owner or service provider, take this to heart. If you can’t deliver what you promised, own it. Take accountability. Fix it. That’s how you grow. That’s how you build trust and loyalty.
Because in the end, the only true measure of your business’s value is the results you deliver.
Let’s do better. Let’s deliver.
