🚨 HPD Investigating Deadly Hit-And-Run Near METRORail In Third Ward 🚨
Houston, Texas — The Houston Police Department is investigating a deadly hit-and-run after a man was found lying in the roadway Sunday night in Third Ward.
According to authorities, the incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. near the intersection of Anita Street and Scott Street, next to a METRORail line operated by METRO Houston.
Police say a woman struck the man while he was already in the roadway. Investigators believe the victim may have been hit by one or more vehicles prior to that collision.
Officials confirmed the woman remained at the scene, has been cooperating with officers, and will not face charges at this time.
HPD detectives are working to obtain surveillance video from METRO and nearby businesses to determine what led up to the initial crash.
The investigation remains ongoing.

⛪ New life for a Houston landmark.
Greater Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church at 3029 Holman St. in Houston’s Third Ward has officially been designated a Protected Landmark by the Houston City Council, the city’s highest level of preservation that requires review before any exterior alterations, demolition, or relocation.
Founded in 1902 by Rev. Thomas Wesley and relocated to Third Ward in 1925, the church became a hub of Black civic leadership under Rev. W.M. Sykes, hosting voter registration drives, public health campaigns and Great Depression relief efforts, and its basement served as the site of a 1968 news conference by Black nurses protesting discrimination at Ben Taub Hospital.
