A little special #waybackwednesday today to celebrate the CARS Tour (@CARSTour )#throwback276@hickoryspeedway this weekend in celebrating the USAR Hooters Pro Cup.
On this day (July 24th) in
1998
Michael Ritch would pick up his 4th of 7 wins this year at Concord Motorsports Park. Michael would lead 67 of the 250 laps, taking control later in the race and keeping Mario Gosselin at bay to a runner up finish. Pole winner Scot Sutherland led a race high 155 laps before falling back to finish 4th.
1999
Mario Gosselin would start from the outside of the front row and would go onto to win at Motor Mile Speedway, while leading 142 of the 250 laps. This would be Marioβs only Hooters Pro Cup victory at Motor Mile, but his 3rd win of 5 in the 1999 campaign. Jay Fogleman would finish 2nd while pole sitter Michael Ritch encountered problems after leading 98 laps and would go onto to finish 25th.
2004
Brad Rogers would pick up his first career victory at Southern National Motorsports Park after taking the lead for the final 23 laps, including having to survive a Green-White-Checker. Brad started the race 10th before making his way up to the lead late to hold off Michael Ritch, who started the race from 21st. This race actually saw 8 of the top 10 finishers start from 10th or back in the race. Shane Huffman dominated the early goings, leading the first 112 laps of the event after starting 2nd, he would go onto to lead a total of 153 laps before being credited with a 16th place finish. Bradβs brother, Clay Rogers qualified on the pole but was disqualified in the race and was credited with a 31st place finish.
