A very tragic incident has been reported from the forests of Madhya Pradesh over the past two days. In panpta buffer Bandhavgarh, a tiger has killed one woman and one man, while in Kanha Tiger Reserve, in the Nakti Ghati area near Ghanghar Nala, a temporary forest employee was also killed by a tiger.
Although these are extremely sorrowful events, according to the updates I have received: On Friday, a woman was attacked by a tiger in the Panpta buffer zone forest and died on the spot. Similarly, a man was attacked by a tiger in the same area and also died on the spot. The Forest Department has deployed personnel from the Tiger Protection Force in the area, and elephant squads are conducting continuous patrols.
However, the Forest Department is claiming that all these attacks were carried out by the same tiger. To verify the accuracy and authenticity of this claim, trap cameras are being installed in the area for monitoring and to identify the tiger.
In my opinion, these attacks do not appear to be by a male tiger but rather by a female tiger (tigress). The repeated nature of the attacks suggests that this tigress may be moving in the area with her cubs.
As for the incident in Kanha, I am unable to understand under what circumstances the tiger carried out this attack. The tigers in Kanha are generally very calm and maintain a safe distance from humans.
I will share the identification details of the tigers involved in all three cases with you tomorrow.
