Base has 42K agents, $50M in x402 volume, and the most aggressive L2 playbook in crypto
@defikadic mapped out who's actually shipping on @Base right now. Here's what stood out to me:
1) @travalacom launched x402 travel bookings. Your agent can search, book, and pay for a hotel. First agentic travel protocol live.
2) @Quicknode is giving agents 1M free RPC requests/month via x402. That's infrastructure subsidy at scale.
3) @avantisfi built a perp layer you can trade straight from Claude.
4) @8004_scan has a live ERC-8004 agent explorer on Base. Discovery leaderboards feedback all in one dashboard.
Payments, compute, trading, discovery. All on one chain.
We're tracking 42,471 agents on Base at TrustLayer. That's second only to BSC (132K) and ahead of Ethereum mainnet (34K). For an L2 that's barely two years old, that's impressive.
Is Base winning because of better infra, or because they're just outworking everyone on distribution? AMAs, hackathons, onboarding campaigns, pulling in builders who are already shipping.

160M payments is a big number. If you look into the onchain data though, most of that volume is sub penny transactions, with majority of volume being done by a small # of wallets
Chainalysis conversion data is more bullish: tester-to-payer rates up 4x in 6 months. Small but growing, no hype cycle driving it.
We're at 241K at agents across 19 chains with TrustLayer. 11% have real activity. Early but real 🔥
