📢 Arylex: The smart choice for spring weed control 🌿 Most broad-leaved weed herbicides need warm conditions to work best. Wide temperature variations and dry conditions do not favour sulfonylurea or phenoxy chemistry that may struggle to achieve reliable control early in the spring , especially on larger weeds such as cleavers or poppies, and those that may be resistant to ALS chemistry. Arylex™ is a unique molecule, and its characteristics make it the vital building block of any broad-leaved weed programme in winter and spring cereals. Its ability to perform extremely well in cold and fluctuating temperatures, excellent crop safety, wide application window up to GS45, dose rate flexibility, excellent tank mix compatibility, and a unique mode of action offering an anti-resistance mechanism for specific species such as ALS resistant poppies, make it the backbone of any spring broad-leaved weed herbicide strategy. Arylex can be found in products such as Zypar® and Pixxaro®. These can be used in winter and spring cereals, including winter oats and crops undersown with grass, controlling cleavers, cranesbill, chickweed, mayweed, fat hen, fumitory and charlock. 🛡️ To get the best out of Arylex in winter cereals: • Apply early in sequence or tank-mix with a graminicide to take out all remaining weeds in a single pass. • For clean-up of later flushes of cleavers and black bindweed on other cereals, mix in with the T1 or T2 fungicide. 🛡️ To get the best out of Arylex in spring cereals: • Where no residual chemistry is used for broad-leaved weeds, Arylex is a great broad-spectrum option. • To get ahead of weeds such as fumitory and cleavers, tank-mixing with PGR’s, fungicides or trace elements can help reduce number of applications. • If and when required, other herbicides can be tank-mixed with Arylex based herbicides to boost activity on polygonum species and difficult weeds such as larger Bur chervil. I wonder. Whether baling and removing makes makes a difference. You would surely still have a lot of inoculum left on the base of the stubble? It would be an interesting to understand if planting a cover crop, or undersown crop would help? It might not help immediately but by the time the next barley is planted a few months later there could be a bigger decline in inoculum.

Nobody farms wheat in huge fields like that in the UK or sloshes on chemicals - it would cost a fortune to grow. We have hedgerows, margins, minimum tillage, undersown and cover crops. 50% of chemicals used 20 years ago have gone. 1 hectare can provide 25 people with enough protein for a year and no additional water usage required.

Thats part of the idea. Also by drilling ultra early the legumes will compete against weeds during the autumn while allowing the cereal just to stay alive below the canopy. Cereal is undersown in legumes. During winter cereal will tiller & regrow ready to get ahead in spring.

#biannualcereal winter hybrid barley undersown in 1st year #livingmulch after winter OSR. Finally it looks more like a winter barley field than legume forage field. Plan to take barley to cereal harvest early July leaving plenty of time for the legumes to grow in the warm summer.

Niab, in collaboration with @maizegrowers on behalf of @AnglianWater, are investigating the under-sowing of maize in the UK. Whether you're a farmer, grower, adviser or researcher we want to hear your views and experiences of undersown maize ➡️ow.ly/ze8Y50XFFpY

What happens if we undersow winter hybrid barley into legume livingmulch after OSR harvest, which was it self undersown with a #livingmulch mix. Let’s have an update. So far so good with the #biannualcereal. We managed to get a nice forage cut on the 20th sep liberating barley.

Notill winter OSR with new undersown #livingmulch in the bottom. Compared to subsoiler (28 cm depth) drilled OSR. Both fields look awesome at the moment. Great foundation for optimum yield. 3 way hybrid variety mix and 25 pl/m2 in both fields.

🌱 Airlie Castle Mixture looking well after being undersown at Smailholm Mains in Kelso. Undersowing helps protect the soil and supports strong establishment, giving the new ley a great start without leaving the ground bare. #agriculture #farming #castlemixtures

#biannualcereal winter hybrid barley were undersown in the young #livingmulch back in early August after WOSR in which the livingmulch it self was undersown into. 1W after forage cut on the mulch and now time for barley to do some growth and tillering in the winter season.

Tis the season for crop pics. Looking at the weekend forecast it’s all downhill from here, the agro said yesterday the wheat has already shed a few tillers. 1 Brighton. 2 Illabo. 3 Koala Oats undersown with pasture.

Next zk cook is @brevis_zk It is undersown and a lot of people sleep on it due to the problem with the algorithm. It is not easy to get inside but it is well worth the effort. Brevis is building a coprocessor for blockchains, giving smart contracts the ability to access and verify any data across chains without trust assumptions ZK is the endgame, powered by Brevis! also been talking about @irys_xyz and @cysic_xyz today 🔥🔥
GM CT Another day to go hard on convictions Today I'll be going all in on Cysic , Irys & brevis @cysic_xyz is building zk hardware acceleration with custom GPUs and CPUs while @irys_xyz is building a programmable data chain. Irys makes storing, verifying, and accessing data seamless @brevis_zk is a zk powered network that generates and verifies proofs so smart contracts can access and compute on full historical onchain data without relying on offchain services

A brief brighter moment as we dodged the showers replacing a drought killed undersown herbal ley - seedbed only just good enough after the dramatic change from dry to wet, but it’s in!

First year #livingmulch growing nicely after OSR harvest. In this small trial I have undersown the young lucerne/red/white clover mix with #biannualcereal winter hybrid barley. Only 6 days left then disc cut & harvest of the forage while providing much needed light to the barley.

New field of winter OSR undersown with #livingmulch. Some minor herbicide damages but otherwise I’m happy with it currently. If going to plan then we have already now seeded an epic autumn green manure crop for the next 4 autumns post cash crop harvest.
