Positive Romberg's sign. Caused by tertiary syphilis, a condition known as tabes dorsalis. The underlying problem is destruction of the dorsal column-medial leminiscus pathway(DCML), a group of ascending tracts concerned with conscious proprioception, joint position and vibration. (Fasciculus cuneatus for the upperlimbs and fasciculus gracilis for the lowerlimbs)
