#phdproject focuses on uncovering the molecular mechanisms underlying neuronal synapse assembly and disassembly using cutting-edge cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET), cryo-EM, and advanced microscopy techniques.
Youโll work on:
๐ท Establishing a cryo-ET FIB-SEM workflow for studying synaptic assemblies
๐ท Visualising the nanoscale architecture of neuronal synapses using state-of-the-art imaging technologies
๐ท Determining high-resolution structures of synaptic cell-adhesion molecule pairs
๐ท Investigating the molecular recognition code that governs synapse formation
๐ท Performing complementary structureโfunction studies in primary neurons
๐ท Combining structural biology, advanced microscopy, and neuroscience to understand healthy and diseased brain function
๐ Contribute to advancing our understanding of how neuronal connections form and function, providing new insights into brain development, neurological disorders, and the molecular basis of synaptic communication.
