#Delhi: PM Modi, speaking at the India Mobile Congress 2025 at Yashobhoomi, highlights India’s growing tech potential, saying, “India has a strong developer population. Today, 1GB of wireless data costs less than a cup of tea. I often use ‘chai’ as an example to make things relatable.” #imc | #IMC2025 | #PMModi | #DigitalIndia | #TechInnovation | #wirelessdata | #PMAtIMC

Did you know? India’s average wireless data usage per subscriber reached 24.56 GB/month in May 2025. But the picture looks very different once we dive into states exhibiting strong data consumption, indicating active streaming, social media, and digital service usage: Arunachal Pradesh (33.7 GB) and Sikkim (32.4 GB) are at the top, reflecting how connectivity in the Northeast is driving high digital adoption despite infrastructure challenges. Gujarat (28.5 GB) and Tripura (27.8 GB) also show strong data consumption, signalling active streaming, social media, and digital service use. On the other end, Delhi (14.9 GB) and Mizoram (17.7 GB) record the lowest usage, possibly due to different consumption patterns, urban Wi-Fi penetration, or alternate access routes. These variations highlight how regional factors, affordability, and accessibility are shaping India’s digital divide. Thank you to @SchwabNetwork for having me on as a guest with Nicole Petallides this morning discussing Verizon earnings, but more importantly looking at the changing wireless and telecommunications industry. It's important to pull-the-camera-back and get a longer-term, historical perspective on the changing industry. #jeffkagan @jeffkagan @SchwabNetwork @NPetallides @pointwealth #wireless #telecom #telecommunications #5g #growth @verizonnews @attnews @tmobilenews @ericsson @nokia @qualcomm @huawei @zteusa #evolution #wirelessdata @iphone @android #AppStore #growthopportunity

Researchers at University College London have achieved a groundbreaking 938 Gbps wireless data transmission, over 9000 times faster than current 5G speeds. By utilizing a wide frequency range from 5 GHz to 150 GHz and combining high-speed electronics with microwave photonics, they achieved ultra-fast multiplex data transfer. This breakthrough paves the way for 6G technology, capable of downloading over 20 movies in just a second. It also enhances the radio access network (RAN) infrastructure, setting the foundation for future collaborations with smartphone manufacturers and network providers. #UCL #WirelessData #6G #TechnologyBreakthrough #HighSpeedInternet #MicrowavePhotonics #RANInfrastructure #FutureTech #TechInnovation #SmartphoneCollaboration #NetworkProviders

Researchers have achieved a groundbreaking wireless data transmission speed of 938 gigabits per second (Gbps), surpassing the average speed of current 5G connections by over 9000 times. This speed allows for the download of more than 20 average-length movies every second, setting a new standard for multiplex data transmission. Led by Zhixin Liu at University College London, the team utilized a broader spectrum of frequencies, operating across 5 to 150 gigahertz using both radio waves and light. This ultra-wide bandwidth transmission employs a combination of high-speed electronics and microwave photonics technologies. The experiment demonstrated orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) signals over a 145 GHz bandwidth, achieving the fastest recorded speed for multiplex data. Liu's team is collaborating with smartphone manufacturers and network providers to lay the foundation for future 6G technology. This achievement represents a significant leap towards ultra-fast wireless communication, promising a transformative impact on next-generation radio access networks (RAN). #6G #WirelessData #TechInnovation #FutureTechnology #HighSpeedInternet #ResearchBreakthrough #NextGenTech #DataTransmission

Jeff Kagan offers initial comment on HPE acquisition of Juniper Networks. Kagan is a Wireless Industry Analyst for three decades. After attending the Juniper Networks analyst briefing in 2023, I was impressed with their new direction and growth in areas like Private Wireless and 5G networks. In my opinion, this area remains a growth opportunity. However, this space is not growing as smoothly or as rapidly as I initially thought. While Juniper Networks has shown solid performance, they are a smaller competitor and they need financial stability to see them through the ebbs and flows of this growing segment. Being acquired makes sense both for Juniper Networks and for HPE. HPE sees the upside from this new market segment. I believe they will continue on this path. Juniper Networks has carved out an important niche in this sector. The financial stability of HPE gives them and Juniper Networks what they need as this new segment continues to grow. After the acquisition, the Juniper Networks operation will continue to be operated by current CEO Rami Rahim. He will report to HPE President and CEO Antonio Neri. It appears that this acquisition could be just what Juniper Networks needed at just the right time.
