JULIA JACKLIN The Gem via 4AD Preorder: resident-music.com/product/j… Event Entry Bundles: link.dice.fm/W2ea21f2b01a Our beloved aussie singer-songwriter has struck a rich seam of mellifluous ballads for us to add to our ear wormeries. For the uninitiated, Julia's greatest power is the juxtaposition of her lark-like voice dancing across rough, dusty instrumentation that flits between americana & indie rock. & that blissful dynamic is more polished than ever on this, her fourth LP. In #Art News The Glucksman and Cork Midsummer debut Laura Ní Fhlaibhín's bio-sculptural installation at Elizabeth Fort The Glucksman and Cork Midsummer Festival are presenting "an casadh" (the turn) by artist Laura Ní Fhlaibhín. This installation will be located at the historic Elizabeth Fort in Cork City from June 13th to June 20th. "an casadh" is a bio-sculptural work that uses living wormeries. The artist will perform rituals called "tae na bpéist" within the installation, drawing attention to the fort's past as a place where women convicts were held. This art piece delves into themes of connection, regular practices, and ways of providing sustenance. It encourages viewers to think about how we are all connected to situations that can both support life and be uncertain. The installation uses the historical context of Elizabeth Fort to explore these ideas, making a link between the past and present through the art and the performing rituals.

The Over 55s Climate Chats in Waterford have come to a successful close after a 6-week series of relaxed, engaging workshops led by climate facilitator and former UN Diplomat, Jacinta Barrins 🌱 Organised by our Climate Action and Age Friendly teams, the free sessions took place in Dungarvan Library, where participants came together over a cup of tea to learn about, discuss and explore climate change in a supportive and conversational setting. From understanding what climate change is to taking practical action at home, participants shared inspiring stories, from installing solar panels and starting garden wormeries to switching to more energy-efficient heating and everyday habits. Many spoke of feeling more confident having climate conversations with family, friends and their wider community. The programme highlighted the important role older adults play in climate leadership and community action, and the enthusiasm and commitment shown throughout was truly encouraging. 📚Our libraries provide spaces to relax, learn, and connect with the community. Did you know that Cork City Libraries have three vibrant wormeries? 🐛 Thanks to Aisling and Ben's efforts, eco-friendly wormeries in three libraries serve as educational tools for children, teaching them about composting food scraps with worms. This project promotes mindful consumption, quality learning, and sustainable communities among young library users. In Year 2, we made wormeries for #britishscienceweek by first filling bottles with compost, soil and then sand. We searched for worms, put them inside and covered the outside with black paper. We will watch out for them burrowing over the next two weeks.
