El trabajo primordial de O'ward es ser piloto del #5 de Arrow Mclaren, en fines libres de Indycar es cuando estará con Mclaren en F1.
También Mclaren cuenta con la reserva de Ryo Hirakawa, de igual forma la presencia de ambos no obliga a Mclaren a subirlos a F1.
