Research released by Georgetown University CSET, OpenAI & Stanford Internet Observatory warns AI tech like chatbots, deepfakes, etc., could give those launching Influence Operations, propaganda, etc., "a distinct advantage".

I've been warning about the use of AI chatbots in cyber crime, Information Operations, etc., for years.
It will never cease to frustrate me that entities like Europol are so far behind the future, when researchers put information out years ahead of time.

We should be cautious about tech like Woebot, an AI chatbot app using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques to help people manage their mental health.
Digital wellness apps aren't bound by US federal privacy laws & have shared data with 3rd parties like Facebook/Meta.

Given all this, I believe it's difficult to place an upper limit on what these two technologies (also, similar tech in the future) may ultimately be capable of, both in their performance as technologies, & their possible impact on people, for good or ill (probably ill).

Both technologies impact on society thus far, if judged by how they've effected people's lives alone, have been so widely varied, as to be dangerously unpredictable.
On top of this, a wide array of usecases & new technologies that leverage both, have come into existence.

We have two technologies that have been publicly released for 6 years (Replika) & 2 years (ChatGPT).
In those relatively short periods of time, both have had a considerable, wide reaching impact on society & technology.

I bet data farms deploying legions of chatbots designed to engage people in online communication, specifically to harvest data from them, will be a thing.

Also, since around 2014, Russia's government has produced/implemented Elbrus chips, that have x86/x64 compatibility for applications like military computers.
I think the chips native architecture (Elbrus 2000) may be SPARC based, but I could be wrong.
