Different angle, same location, today and June 2018. The crowfoot is dying, the water is slow moving, warm and smelly. It is full of tiny fish though, so itβs not all bad! #wye#wyevalley#monmouth
Even though, yes, there's some mud washed into the River Wye from the land, the issues are far worse than that. For anyone wondering what the problem is, then this is useful from @SaveTheWyesavethewye.org/the-state-of-β¦
I counted 20 swans between the Wyastone bend and Wyebridge in #monmouth. Only one breeding pair that I could see, though (although there is a family of four or five cygnets a bit further downstream. #wye#wyevalley
The water crowfoot has started to bloom in the #wye at #monmouth. Thereβs a lot of it this year, but the water is still green with algae. @SaveTheWye
The crowfoot is growing in patches in the Wye, but sadly the water is brown and full of algal bloom once again. A few swans are nesting, but not as many as a few years ago. Sad. #wye#wyevalley#monmouth
