Used the Double Clothesline activity to teach solving equations to my applied 10s. Definitely a gamechanger! This helped them really understand and visualize two step equations.
When a student is able to “look up” as if they are peering into their mind to visualize their math thinking, we know students are thinking conceptually rather than simply following a memorized procedure. @MathletePearce#mathetudetapintoteenminds.com/concret…
“What do you value in a park?”
We’re answering that question with cardstorming at tonight’s workshop to redevelop the former Napier St./St.Joseph & St. Mary Catholic schools site. Thank you everyone for your great ideas!
It’s interesting that engagement drops when students present their work rather than when teachers consolidate student work after #thinkingclassroom activity. May have to do with difference in register. They try to raise their register.
