Wow. Not wanting to hate but Backrooms is the opposite of everything I loved about Obsession. I feel like I’ve sat an exam set by someone who doesn’t know the answers. A smug, over-confident, one-note mess, not clever enough to intrigue or scary enough to thrill. Tiresome stuff.

Yes!! Finally a proper horror film with something to say that eschews modern horror films tendency to be a bit smug, knowing and pleased with themselves… Two banging performances and some really gooey and scary practical effects. Loved.

No idea what Irish Twitter thinks of this of this film in 2026 but I had a great time revisiting The Commitments. The music is absolutely sublime still and the (barely believable) 16 year old Andrew Strong is an absolute show stealer.

Guys I’m so so sorry to hear this. Lots of very fond memories from my teenage years playing in the band with Todd, practicing in the garage with all the Motörhead gear & pissing off the neighbours. He was a great bloke and a brilliant musician. My thoughts are with your family x
