The Detroit school board is interviewing candidates to fill a vacant seat. The district told me to FOIA to review their applications. After filing a FOIA, the district said it would respond by Aug. 11 — well after the board’s vote to select its new member. chalkbeat.org/detroit/2025/0…

Recent work examining the impact of the Trump administration on Michigan parents of students with disabilities in 📸@chalkbeatorg Sheri King was working with a federal civil rights attorney to get the Detroit school district to pay for tutoring for her son, George Finley Jr. who’s in 7th grade. The regional enforcement office the attorney worked in was shuttered by the Trump administration before there was a resolution, leaving King uncertain of his future education.
