@Lesufi suoports the establishment of a political killings task team in Gauteng.
If you join the dots, you will find linkages to assassinations that don’t appear political related at first glance. Take the assassination of Marumo Phenya - this case looked like the murder of a whistleblower exposing corruption at Department of Home Affairs, yet if you dig deeper, there will be politicians who influenced those that signed off and benefitted from the tender.
Friday’s assassination of Bouwer van Niekerk may also have political links as one of the high profile cases he had been involved in was Optimum, a mining saga in Mpumalanga that recently became the focus of a lot of activity in the underworld with allegations that a top political dynasty was involved. There may also be underworld funds tied to NTC Global laundered on behalf of politicians, much like we saw in the previous Ponzi case operated by fugitive Art Viljoen and under joint investigation by Hawks and IRS.
The assassination of Thomas and Cloete Murray also had undertones of political involvement with bad actors in the private sector, and of course they were involved in the Bosasa case.
We implore the premier of Gauteng, Panyaza Lesufi; the caretaker minister of Police, Feroz Cachalia; the national commissioner of police, General Fanie Masemola, and the Gauteng provincial commissioner of police, General Tommy Mthombeni; to direct the new unit to investigate the Phenya, van Niekerk and Murray assassinations.
