Using AI makes me feel like I can actually do some of the things in my professional life that I haven’t had time for… WITHOUT sacrificing my focus and effort towards my family. 💕 How can I connect with you and share my ideas?

This is one of the most real talks I have ever shared. Burning out while freelancing. Extremely raw. Hope you listen and walk away with renewed fervor to focus on what matters. 💖

This essential community promise has been violated, and we ask everyone to consider the ethics of such an action, and the new precedent that has been set.

The NitroPack team has a new solution to ensure NitroPack users receive updates to the WordPress plugin. Please update to the latest version of NitroPack using the steps outlined in our post: support.nitropack.io/en/arti… The NitroPack team has been blocked from accessing WordPress.org, which prevents us from releasing updates through WordPress.org. To continue receiving updates, please upgrade to the latest NitroPack version, following the steps outlined in our article linked above. Note: WP Engine and Flywheel hosting customers are unaffected and do not need to manually install this update to continue to receive automatic updates.

We were saddened and appalled by Matt Mullenweg’s actions this morning appropriating the Advanced Custom Fields plugin that our ACF team has been actively developing for the WordPress community since 2011. Please read the following post for our full statement. advancedcustomfields.com/blo…

Our ACF plugin has been taken over forcibly by wordpressdotorg without our consent. If you are a WP Engine, Flywheel or ACF PRO customer, you do not need to take any action and will continue to get the latest from the ACF team. If you have a site managed elsewhere using ACF, in order to get ACF updates you must perform a 1-time download of the genuine 6.3.8 version via advancedcustomfields.com to remain safe in the future. The update servers for wordpressdotorg are no longer controlled by the ACF team. advancedcustomfields.com/blo… You’ve been trusting ACF for over a decade. The experts that maintain ACF will continue to support and enhance the capabilities that our users love and trust.
We have been made aware that the Advanced Custom Fields plugin on the WordPress directory has been taken over by WordPress dot org. A plugin under active development has never been unilaterally and forcibly taken away from its creator without consent in the 21 year history of WordPress.

Matt Mullenweg and Automattic’s self-proclaimed scorched earth campaign against WP Engine has harmed not just our company, but the entire WordPress ecosystem. The symbiotic relationship between WordPress, its community and the businesses that invest millions to support WordPress users, and advance the ecosystem, is based on trust in the promises of openness and freedom. Matt Mullenweg’s conduct over the last ten days has exposed significant conflicts of interests and governance issues that, if left unchecked, threaten to destroy that trust. WP Engine has no choice but to pursue these claims to protect its people, agency partners, customers, and the broader WordPress community. Like so many of you, we love WordPress and are committed to the stability and longevity of the community. Read the complaint here: wpengine.com/wp-content/uplo…

"We are taking immediate steps to remediate the impact of this action. We remain steadfastly committed to supporting WP Engine customers, users, and the entire WordPress community." 🩵 #WordPress @wpengine
26 Sep 2024
Matt Mullenweg, CEO of Automattic, has misused his control of WordPress to interfere with WP Engine customers’ access to WordPress.org, asserting that he did so because WP Engine filed litigation against Wordpress.org. This simply is not true. Our Cease & Desist letter was a letter – not a lawsuit – and was directed at Automattic for Matt’s pattern of serious and repeated misconduct – behavior that must stop for the health and stability of the entire community. Matt Mullenweg’s unprecedented and unwarranted action interferes with the normal operation of the entire WordPress ecosystem, impacting not just WP Engine and our customers, but all WordPress plugin developers and open-source users who depend on WP Engine tools like ACF. We are taking immediate steps to remediate the impact of this action. We remain steadfastly committed to supporting WP Engine customers, users, and the entire WordPress community.

I am focused and committed to giving back to #WordPress through @wpengine. 🩵
23 Sep 2024
Since our founding in 2010, WP Engine has been dedicated to advancing the use and adoption of WordPress through innovation, investment, and active community involvement. We are proud of our extensive contributions to the WordPress ecosystem which has grown far beyond the core open-source project. The recent attacks against us are unfair and untrue and clearly designed to harm our business. Our employees, customers and the WordPress community deserve better. While these developments are unfortunate, they will not slow us down. We remain focused on serving our customers, supporting our team members and our agency partners, and fulfilling our mission which puts the growth and success of the WordPress ecosystem at the heart of everything we do.
