So glad that @KatePahl and my article is finally out in Linguistics and Education. Its open access. Exploring the challenges of analysing co-produced data, and considering the lived and embodied reality of linguistic prescriptivism. sciencedirect.com/science/ar…
Join in with the upcoming Language and Literacies Conference. Looking forward to working in partnership with Uni of Sheffield, and other SHU colleagues, to create a great event.

Lovely to have @drjenrowsell I’m Sheffield. Riffing on Daniel Miller’s ‘The Comfort of Things’. Talking at the inaugural session for the Multimodality in Education group spearheaded by @retaylor_
I NEED EVERY SINGLE UCU MEMBER TO RT THIS
This is the biggest week in our history
Every single university takes strike action on Thursday and Friday
This week the balance of power shifts. 70,000 UCU members Vs 150 Vice Chancellors
Let’s leave nothing behind
#ucuRISING
I NEED EVERY UCU MEMBER TO RETWEET THIS
We are hearing that Vice Chancellors are asking UCU members if they plan to take strike action next week.
They have no right to do this and you do not have to answer them.
They are hitting the panic button. Stand strong.

So important to see such tangible examples of the importance of play. To see how designing play into health care & medtech is an attempt to put 'being human' at the centre of 'being a patient' & can drastically change the texture of terrifying or traumatic healthcare situations
Also I have an @OperationOuch obsessed 4-year old, so was in her good books when I brought home the MRI play kit she had seen on the show. She has been studiously scanning all her toys and taking a trip round @SheffChildrens in VR @dylanyamadarice
Thrilled our article challenging official judgements of language deficit has been published in Literacy's Special Edition on Oracy. Also delighted to share the issue with 7 fantastic articles! Loved writing this with @hfescott & Robin Bone @EducationSheff

Alongside this promotion tweet, I also want to say it was rejected, redrafted, abandoned, and rewritten multiple times over a number of years. Scrolling on twitter always makes it seem like people have magically produced an article that moment😆
Looking forward to getting my hands on this. Was lucky enough to get to write a section in here about research as ‘artifice’, amidst other explorations of the realities of research collaboration
Our lovely Gemma and Deborah had a great time today, presenting at an international literacy conference in Birmingham with @hfescott, @JaneLHodson, and 12 portable, immersive, creative spaces! @The_UKLA
ALT Gemma in a bright waistcoat, holding a box like a radio in front of a vintage suitcase, with decorated umbrellas around the edge of the room.
ALT Deborah in front of two decorated umbrellas.
ALT Jane, standing in front of a decorated umbrella covered in autumn leaves, propped open on a coat stand.
ALT Hugh, smiling in front of a flip chart and umbrellas decorated with leaves, flowers and bunting.
Presenting today at #AILA2021 with @KatePahl talking about 'Affective understandings of prescriptivism and spelling in video narratives co-produced with children in a post-industrial area of the UK'. Based on our article:

Because the conference is happening online, we have pre-recorded our presentation. So if you aren't attending and are interested you can watch it here: youtu.be/HU5I_G-CWd8 - @KatePahl's cat makes an appearance
