nearly always so much more sympathy for rapists, especially teenaged, than for the victims of rapists; why so much more concerned with boys than with girls? utterly baffling, outrageous. in the US it has too often been "boys will be boys"--"girls, fend for yourselves."
🚨NEW: Three teenage boys who filmed themselves raping two teenage girls in separate attacks in Fordingbridge have all been spared jail by judge Nicholas Rowland. They then sent the video around to multiple people. Judge Nicholas said the boys were "very young, had low intelligence and had a limited understanding of consent." One of the victims told the court "All I want to do is die, I no longer have fear for when that comes." She described how she felt “numb” and was shaking while the boys were “laughing and recording what happened” over the 90-minute ordeal. Videos of the incident were later sent around and other people made jokes about the girl and she received messages calling her a "s**g." thesun.co.uk/news/39172359/s…

Appalled at the shocking behaviour of Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir towards illegally detained members of the Sumud Flotilla. The Israeli government’s actions are in breach of international law and I intend to raise this issue at EU level.

This is a hard article to read, but I hope you'll do so. I've spent some time reporting on widespread rape and other sexual violence of Palestinian male and female prisoners by Israeli authorities, and the article is now published. The assault victims were warned not to give speak of what they endured -- they were sometimes told they would be killed or raped if they gave interviews -- but they found the courage to do so. One man described being raped three times in a single day in Israeli prison, the third time after he tried to protest. A young woman said the guards would come in at the beginning of each shift and strip her naked and abuse her. Another reported that she was shown photos of herself being raped and warned they would be released unless she cooperated with Israeli intelligence. Even three children who had been detained told me they had been sexually abused. Look, whatever our position on the Middle East, we should be able to agree on being anti-rape. Sexual assaults were horrific when Israeli women were targeted on Oct. 7, and they're equally horrific when Israeli authorities use them against Palestinians day after day after day. We should be able to find common ground in opposing rape. Here's a gift link to the article: nytimes.com/2026/05/11/opini…

Hi @KemiBadenoch wants to ban pro Palestinian marches in UK. Interestingly despite being Tory leader who opposes hate she’s never spoken about sectarian marches in Northern Ireland, 12th July bonfires featuring ‘Kill All Taigs’ banners, Rangers supporters singing Billy Boys etc

Monisha Rajesh posted a comment about columnists Hadley Freeman and Janice Turner and called them hateful. I queried this with her and received replies from her and others. All have blocked me from replying to them. Weird to be on X and opposed to engaging in debate

Jonathan you conveniently forgot the terrorist actions of ‘cultural Christian’ Anders Breviak in Norway in 2011 @jonsac @BBCRadio4 when discussing Islam just now on Radio 4

NHS hospital: I noticed the clock on the wall showed the wrong time. A nurse told me they knew, but they wouldn’t report it because replacing the battery through the NHS would cost £70. A £2 battery... £70. How? Why? That's when I began to dig further. 🧵

The Post Office branches in the UK now seen to be fully franchised. The Mount Pleasant branch on Farringdon Road was run very well by loyal staff for many years. It’s now run v badly, it’s filthy and the main door has been broken for months @PostOffice they simply don’t care

Listening to my former editor Roula Khalaf of the FT on Desert Island Discs @BBCRadio4 talking about Janetbot called after Janet Yellen that alerted us to the overuse of pix of men on the homepage. As photo editor I was committed to getting more women into the FT @khalafroula

But of course; it was just a matter of time before Brendan O’Neill wrote the article about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, as he did about Jimmy Savile. huffingtonpost.co.uk/brendan…

Meanwhile, according to Brendan O'Neill, Prince Harry should never be forgiven - for writing a book. Fuckwit.

Jeff Bezos's wanton destruction of one of America's most fearless journalistic institutions so that he can suck up to Trump is too expensive a midlife crisis to impose on America. A sad day for independent media.

Selling your books on @worldofbookshq is a waste of time. Courier from @dpduk__delivery didn’t show up and seemed to be in London docklands miles from where I live. Incapable of reading a postcode. Very difficult to contact both of them. Is it all a scam

How do I know you’re legitimately working for DPD. The courier code was 0061 119 785 4 so if you’re legit you will have all my details. Why was courier in Docklands and at my home - he sent these messages. Can he not read properly
