Hey again,
@StakeEddie,
@BijanTehrani . I am speaking, I believe, on behalf of the whole Kick community. We understand that Kick needs ads from a business perspective. We understand that they were eventually gonna make their way to Kick. However, we were promised less intrusive ads, and as it stands, they are worse than the ads on Twitch. On Twitch, when you subscribe to a channel, you don't see ads, and if you are not a sub, there is a small window of the stream still playing in a corner. On Kick, we get full-screen ads, no matter if we are subscribed or not, and we miss everything that happens on the stream during this time. This is not less intrusive; this is way worse for viewers than the competition.
Here are a few ideas:
- A small window with the stream playing on the side while the ad is running is a must if the ad is a 30-second unskippable full-screen one
- Introduce tiers of ads where some are small pop-ups and not full-screen ads
- Give some control to streamers on how often ads play on their streams
- I understand that Kick makes no money from subscribers, so why not introduce a Kick Plus or something of this sort that allows users to buy it and completely bypass ads? Maybe add a few more small benefits to it as well
