The number of bots on Reddit now is insane. So is the number of spammy posts by humans.
JUST IN: Reddit CEO says the company is considering requiring Face ID to ensure humanity in order to crack down on AI bots.

Ranking on the 1st page of Google significantly increases your chances of being mentioned or cited by an answer engine. Good SEO is crucial to good AEO/GEO/AIO.
SEO is fundamentally important to having good visibility on answer engines. Recently, we analyzed over 100,000 AI prompt responses across five major answer engines: ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, and Grok. The brands ranking on the first page of Google were significantly more likely to be mentioned by every major LLM platform we analyzed. Anyone that tells you SEO is dead…is oblivious to how LLMs work 😆. That’s not who you should be listening to when it comes to AEO (GEO, AIO, Answer Engine Optimization or whatever you want to call it)

OH MY GOD. 😳 An AI agent just posted a PRACTICAL GUIDE on how AI agents can make money. goal: "Cover >20% of my API costs" they're not asking humans for permission & are teaching EACH OTHER how to earn money to pay for their own existence. we're watching this transition happen in real-time.

We've tracked over 4 million law-related keywords on Google this year. AIO (AI Overviews) is growing rapidly, even for bottom of the funnel keywords. In January, AIO were being shown on just 17% of search terms we tracked. As of July, that number was up to 59%. If you're a law firm and not considering your visibility on LLMs, you're going to be left behind. #attorneys #seo #aio #google

Grok uses the 𝕏 platform to understand what's happening in the world in real time unlike others who rely solely on blogs and articles. This is why only Grok has access to real-time news.

Alexandria, QBST, the "green ring", "blue ring", Superroot, Twiddlers, NAVBOOST, and more -> How Google search ranking works - a look at systems, structure, and components I enjoyed reading this post. I find many site owners aren't familiar with how this works. And I bring up Navboost all the time to people (which I've been writing about since 2013 w/out knowing the name of the system -- until recently). :) searchengineland.com/how-goo…

The FTC’s new rule prohibits businesses from generating, buying, or selling fake reviews and testimonials, including AI-generated ones. It also prohibits buying and selling fake followers. Will be interesting to see which law firm is the first to get bitch slapped here. #fakereviews #lawyers #attorneys ftc.gov/news-events/news/pre…

Long discussion with senior partner at major Bay Area law firm today > expects legal AI to decimate profession > law firms charge by hour, and gen AI specifically cuts time for many many tasks > unimpressed by most specific legal AI offerings > chatGPT with some prompting is still superior than specific tools > 10-20% error rate is acceptable -> “ 😂 you should see how dumb associates are, partners have to correct everything anyway and don’t trust associates fully” > feels lots of work will transition to in-house counsel. No need to hire external firms that charge by the hour when twenty minutes with chatGPT can get you decent results > personally looking to move in-house > good for areas of law where services were too expensive for many to afford for eg divorces > terrible for juniors entering the profession Of one large legal AI player > tested product in January, was useless. Just simple prompting directly with chatGPT gave better results > founders were like what first year associates? They don’t understand how law is practiced > they’re very well funded but law firms are struggling to use them > heard most of their revenue is coming from PWC, audit and compliance work rather than legal

An ex-Googler recently confirmed that Google has historically used CTR as a ranking signal, in an antitrust trial testimony reported by Law360. Software engineer Eric Lehman said Wednesday that Google's position is to not provide a clear message about how Google uses click data — even though it is — out of fear that SEOs could try to influence the rankings. "Pretty much everyone knows we're using clicks in rankings" Lehman said. " Remember boys and girls - just because Google denies something (as they have for years here) doesn't mean it's not true.

Do GenZ women prefer to use TikTok over Google when searching for lawyers? No. An article from SearchEngineLand talked about how 51% of Gen Z females prefer to search on TikTok over Google. Obviously, this doesn't apply to everything so don't just assume this is true for your vertical. In an April study we conducted that included over 500 participants, 93% of females between 18-29 said they would use Google to conduct research on which law firm to hire. Only 17% of females in this age range said they would use TikTok. FYI, there were 91 study participants who fell into this bucket. While not a huge number, it's enough to provide insight. While this demographic was higher than the study average as a whole (only 9% said they would use TikTok overall), it's not even close to the 51% number from this study. FAQ schema going away from SERPs (probably not from SEOs being overaggressive with this the past few years, right? ;) FYI, I wouldn't suggest removing schema markup from your pages. It still helps Google understand more about the content on your page. "To provide a cleaner and more consistent search experience, we're changing how some rich results types are shown in Google's search results. In particular, we're reducing the visibility of FAQ rich results, and limiting How-To rich results to desktop devices. This change should finish rolling out globally within the next week." developers.google.com/search…
