Thereโs a joint statement from the British Association of Urological Surgeons and Prostate Cancer UK, published in the BMJ in June of last year, that calls the digital rectal examination a poor test for prostate cancer. The new guidelines recommend PSAs in addition to a multiparametric MRI for high-risk patients or elevated PSA.
Dear men,
The digital rectal exam is not as bad as you think.
Itโs well lubricated and takes 30s. Itโs not painful just uncomfortable.
So get over yourself and your phobias and check your prostate!
