FIELD INSPECTION UNDER “JALAMANDALI BASTHI BATA – MORNING IN THE BASTHI” PROGRAMME UNDER FATHENAGAR SECTION, SD-3, O&M DIV-VI, S R Nagar.
Sri Mayank Mittal, IAS, Joint Managing Director, HMWSSB, along with CGM-Khairatabd zone , GM-1, 2 of Khairatabad zone, DGM- Ameerpet circle, Manager- SR Nagar, Fathenagar sections conducted a field inspection in the Fathenagar Section, covering Kailash Nagar area, and adjoining localities.
SR Nagar Section-
1. Reviewed Pending MCC Complaints
2. Disbursement of tankers in two shifts as booked through MCC.
3. Shifting of Tanker Filling points into the section office premises so as to avoid traffic onto the colony roads. Necessary estimates to be submitted
4. Inspected stores material at section premises, Sl. No’s and register maintenance.
5. Inspected sewerage operations at B type quarters vide token no.3206 and instructed to generate the notice for households wasting the water. And also instructed to generate meter replacement notice for unmetered connections.
6. Inspection of sewerage overflow complaint vide token no.2901 at Prashanth colony.
Fathenagar Section -
1. Assess the quality and adequacy of drinking water supply.
2. Inspect sewerage infrastructure including manholes and pipelines.
3. Verify chlorine levels and water pressure.
4. Review supply timings and adherence to schedule.
5. Interact directly with basthi residents, local leaders, and stakeholders.
6. Identify pending grievances and ensure immediate corrective measures.
Field Inspection & Interactions
During the visit, the Joint Managing Director interacted with basthi consumers and local community leaders in Kailash Nagar. Residents were encouraged to share their concerns regarding water supply, sewerage issues and related services.
Sir personally verified the following:
1. Chlorine residual levels in supplied water samples.
2. Water pressure levels at consumer points.
3. Water supply timings and adherence to the notified schedule.
Observations
The following observations were recorded during the inspection:
1. Water Quality: The quality of drinking water supplied to the area was found to be good. Chlorine levels were within permissible limits of 0.2ppm, indicating proper disinfection.
2. Water Pressure: Water pressure at consumer end points was found to be normal and adequate for household usage.
3. Supply Timings: Water supply was being provided as per the scheduled timings without major deviations.
4. Sewerage & Manholes: During inspection of sewerage lines and manholes, certain holes were observed near manholes. These were reportedly arranged for collecting rainwater. However, such openings may pose safety risks and sanitation concerns.
The Joint Managing Director instructed the concerned officials to immediately fill the identified holes near manholes and ensure proper restoration of the surface to avoid accidents and maintain hygiene.
5. Complaint on Damaged Storm Water Drain Cover:
Consumers brought to the notice of the Joint Managing Director that a storm water drain (SWD) cover was damaged and pending rectification for the past six months, causing inconvenience and potential safety hazards. Taking immediate cognizance of the issue, Sir spoke to the GHMC Assistant Engineer (AE) over phone during the field visit and instructed that the complaint be attended and rectified immediately in coordination with the concerned department.
The inspection under the “Jalamandali Basthi Bata” programme in Fathenagar Section revealed that water supply services in Kailash Nagar are functioning satisfactorily in terms of quality, pressure, and schedule adherence. Minor infrastructure issues identified during the visit were immediately addressed through on-the-spot instructions to concerned officials and coordination with GHMC authorities.
