one of the greatest American actors, period.
"If you don't play it dead serious, you're not going to get the comedy out of it" Stephen Root talks to Rolling Stone about his greatest roles, from Wyck on 'Widow's Bay' to Milton in 'Office Space' and more. rollingstone.com/tv-movies/t…

You ever get like half hour into a documentary and think ā€œman I’m glad this shit happened in Texasā€because suddenly you support the death penalty?

if Shawn Dean did what he does for WWE, these goofs would think he’s more valuable than god.

He’s basically Gabe Sapolsky with an exponentially better success rate over the last 20 years, and he’s only been doing it for 6 of em.

I guess 20 is probably a stretch, there were stretches of Evolve that worked.

MLB teams have whole campaigns begging you to vote their players into the ASG. They should start airing political-style ads that attack their opponents with unflattering black & white photos and out of context quotes.

thing about Kurt here is that for roughly 12-24 months (01-03), it seems like the company understood him completely. 15:00~, helped by booking & greater opponents, etc. Not great but usually really good. That went away and TV ironmans/formula/longer matches eventually followed.
I probably have to revisit Angle. In the 2010s, I was primarily focused on coherence and compelling in-ring narratives, but in the 2020s, I'm more focused on immersion and living in the moment. Coherence is a part of that but Angle might be the one person who can brute force it.

Part of it is that it only feels that way because multiple strikes and a pandemic have interrupted tv shows for the last several years. The other part is just streaming not being ad dependent.
i will never understand how people that used to make a dozen episodes a year struggle to even *write* 8-9 now over a few years

I was gonna make a joke about it but then realized that Savio Vega actually might have been the best they could do as far as getting him Rick Steamboat to work out the ring rust with.
ā€œSavio Vega is old school. After 2-3 months working every night w/ [him], he got me in the best shape of my career….I have nothing but the highest regards & respect for [him].ā€ ~Steve Austin šŸ‡µšŸ‡·

(I did not start tracking any of this until covid, so any of my ratings here are only things I’ve (re)watched in the last several years.)

I think the most useful data I could have included in my spreadsheets for historical reference is an indicator of how much I hated wrestling that day.

Another reason I track several other sources ratings, beyond recommendations. When I’ve got half a dozen people’s 4 stars on a match I have 2.5, it helps to prioritize stuff I may want to revisit with fresh eyes.
