Apple shipped the new M5 Vision Pro a few months later. Probably one of the most embarrassing misses of all time for a leaker.

Watch how a story mutates as it travels down the chain. A supply chain leaker posts “production delays reported.” A mid-tier tech blog picks it up as “Apple struggling with Vision Pro.” By the time it hits the big news outlets it’s “Vision Pro DEAD.” Same original rumor. Three completely different stories. Nobody corrects the record because the clicks already happened.

The telephone game, but everyone in the chain is monetizing it. A leaker hedges with “possible delays.” An outlet needs a headline so “delays” becomes “cancelation.” Another outlet needs to one-up them so “cancelation” becomes “Apple abandoning spatial computing entirely.” The original source is long gone. The damage is done. Onto the next cycle.

Now that Mark Gurman has been appointed CEO and Ming-Chi Kuo is stepping in as VP of Product, I’m very curious how the spatial computing roadmap shakes out under their leadership.
These two have demonstrated an uncanny ability to predict Apple’s direction, arguably better than anyone actually working there, so it only makes sense they take the wheel.

🚨 BREAKING: Vision Pro is CANCELED. I know this because some guy named Kevin who works at a factory in Shenzhen told his cousin, who told a YouTuber with 847 subscribers, who told Mark Gurman.
Like yes, OBVIOUSLY Apple told the guy soldering hinges in Guangdong that the entire Vision platform is being discontinued. They held a special all-hands meeting just for him.
