This woman rented a brand new 2026 car in Europe, and while driving on the highway, the car suddenly stopped accelerating. A message popped up on the dashboard saying, “Sit up straight, we can’t find your eyes.” The car wouldn’t let her speed back up until it could see her face.
It even asked if it could send the results to a third party. She said no — but the bigger question is, who’s watching, and why does a car need to see your eyes just to let you drive?
This kind of driver surveillance technology is already showing up in newer vehicles, and many people are concerned about where this is headed — especially with future mandates on the way.
