Something nice. I just saw Director Bryan Fuller’s “Dust Bunny.” It’s fantastic and I won’t even try to describe it. Recommend. youtu.be/lQqmOjPDlWg?si=VmTw…

I’ve heard lots of nonsense from people who don’t live in the Twin Cities about how dangerous it is here. I’ve never felt afraid to go to Minneapolis until now, with thousands of clearly under-trained, unidentified, masked and armed individuals exceeding all norms of policing.

I'm at IBC this year, finally able to publicly show and discuss a project I've been leading in secret at Adobe for some time that's finally hit public beta, which is new color management in Premiere Pro! I came out of blog retirement to write more at: vanhurkman.com/wordpress/?p=…

I’ve never not gotten goosebumps listening to this piece, with or without the visuals of the movie.

Hard to believe it’s been 7 years since I had the opportunity to shadow legendary director/producer Tsui Hark on the set of his collaboration with Stephen Chow. Such a great experience that enlarged how I think about directing and color, and wonderful meeting such a great team.

With the new issue of Human Target hitting stands next week, I thought it would be a good time for another process thread. This one concerns what I consider the most important element of my work on HT - contrast.

“Three Thousand Years of Longing” is a spectacular, thoughtful, and romantic tale written and visualized beautifully. Swinton and Elba give lovely performances. Recommend.

Took a while, but I finally started watching the “Wheel of Time” series on Amazon, and really liked it! Some great storytelling, interesting characters, and it’s well made. If you’re into fantasy, this has a lot to offer even in a world w/House of Dragons and The Rings of Power.

Jean-Luc Godard’s approach to film inspired generations of filmmakers and expanded the palette for all of cinema. I can think of no better eulogy for a director than that. “Contempt” remains one of my favorite films.

In every respect, @neilhimself’s “Sandman” is some of the finest series storytelling I’ve seen. Beautifully written, cast, acted, directed, edited, with exquisite sound and visuals. Thoughtful, sincere, with the conviction to take its time. Bravo to everyone who worked on this.

That was a nice secular society we had there for half a minute. Too bad about that looming theocracy whose adherents vote like clockwork, even for people they hate, so long as their agenda is forwarded…
