On LLMs. The fundamental problem with these clever stochastic parrots is that the bulk of their training data is the low quality parts of the Internet that causes them to have problems with hallucination when confronted with the more obscure/unique aspects of human knowledge. #AI #compsci

Although I guess for the major frontier models there is deliberate curation of the training data .. higher weightings for high quality data sources.

Musk thinks coding and compilers will completely disappear by the end of 2026 and AI will just create optimised binaries directly - no need for the intermediate step (coding). He has definitely fallen out of his tree. #AI #compsci

I am now of the opinion that the only way vibe coding can work is if the architecture is spelt out in sufficiently unambiguous detail and TDD is used *and* the tests are reviewed by a human. This does necessitate however that the prompt jockey can actually understand code. #AI #compsci
