One day, Claude's creator Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, sat down to write one of the most important essays of 2026.
He called it:
“Policy on the AI Exponential."
To explain the world's biggest problem, he reached for his favorite book,
The Lord of the Rings. 🧙♂️
He compared AI to two small Hobbits desperately trying to wake up Treebeard, a giant, wise, ancient tree, before an army destroys his forest.
The Hobbits? That's Claude & AI. Fast, urgent, alarmed.
Treebeard? Governments. Wise but painfully slow.
The army? AI risks nobody is stopping.
In just 4 years, AI went from barely writing code to writing MOST of the code at top companies.
And governments are still going "hmmmm..."
But Dario ended with hope.
Treebeard is finally waking up. 🌳

I'm stupidly bullish on $Hobbit
Chat GPT has Goblin, And now Anthropic has Hobbit, after Dario Amodei the ceo made that article using it as a metaphor for AI
But I think this is much bigger than comparing it to what Goblin did; that instantly implies it's a beta which gives it a ceiling much lower than where Goblin went to.
There's a shit load of articles online about using LOTR and The Hobbit as analogies for AI, even OpenAI has touched on it many times, but as of the past couple weeks The Pope and Anthropic CEO have jumped on that too. Also heard a couple guys on a podcast talking about Palantir / Sauron the other day lol
I see this concept getting more and more popular and widely used in the near future and The Hobbit being the perfect metaphor for AI being led down the right path.
The Hobbit is the perfect meme / analogy for AI as a whole.
What if this becomes one of the biggest AI memes Solana has ever seen.
