How do we tell stories about subversive pasts when archives only have a fragment of the picture? This is something I explore in FUGITIVES IN THE ARCHIVE - a short film that invites you into a dreamspace to meditate on the past and present lives of undocumented freedom-seekers.

It was beautiful watching the footage back of @Deepyraah when editing 'Fugitives in the Archive'. The expressiveness, the place he goes to when moving, the sensitivity to other dancers. Absolutely beautiful.

But I realised this is the invitation: To consider fugitivity not just as a state of being, but as a technology through which to disturb the archive and the despair of crisis, through which new cosmoses can emerge from the chaos.

Did you know that @BristolLibrary has a reading room reassembled from the city's original 18th century library built in 1738-40? This scene was shot on location in that room and here you can see 18th century newspaper Felix Farley's Bristol Journal. #twitterstorians

Today is the last day you can watch FUGITIVES IN THE ARCHIVE on Spike Island's website. It's an assemblage of found footage, movement, and archive material. Take 15 minutes today to watch it - I'd love to hear what you think (be gentle, it's my 1st!). spikeisland.org.uk/programme…

When Another Country appeared in 1962 it caused a literary sensation: among the storm of reviews the Sunday Times said 'Let our novelists read Mr Baldwin and tremble. There is a whirlwind loose in the land.' What’s your favourite #Baldwin book and why? #ConversationswithBaldwin

This MA was such an important education for me, a complete refreshing of my imaginative landscape. I'll always credit the Historicising the Field module by Professor Deirdre Osborne for setting me on the course of writing historical fiction!
