I voted against an appropriations bill amendment earlier this year being labeled a “kill switch” vote. What I actually voted for was a study of development of passive impaired driving prevention technology, along with clear guardrails to protect drivers. The appropriations language forbids government control of vehicles or external access to your car. What’s being discussed is early-stage, in-vehicle technology that would operate passively and independently.
I am opposed to the government, including law enforcement, having remote access to any technology in cars.
