I’ve done a lot of work with the BBC over the years and have always been fiercely proud of them as an institution, but this stranglehold that the Conservative government has over their news division’s editorial policy is seriously threatening that loyalty. #IamGaryLineker

Hey @edibow. Any plans to get Ben Frost onto Soundtracking to talk 1899? I’m halfway through and something’s just not sitting right with me about it, so I’d be super interested to hear from him, particularly to hear how much influence Netflix had over the soundtrack/score

The killer question: What's the next most important thing to do? #mtpcon
Attending my first @MindtheProduct conference today (virtually today, in person tomorrow). If anyone in my network is also attending in person tomorrow, give me a shout. #mtpcon

Rare opportunity to meet with friends in Manchester for afternoon drinks today. But it’s been so long since I’ve done this, I don’t know where’s good to go these days. Where are the best places for a nice pint around Ancoats?

Skeuomorphism being mentioned here a lot in all but by name #alpsp2022

Current musing after yesterday’s #alpsp2022 sessions; If Sci-Hub is the Napster/Limewire of scholarly publishing, what will the Spotify of scholarly publishing look like, i.e. the legitimised disruptor in the space?

My three year old’s rather damning assessment of the iPlayer for Kindle app this morning: “So slow. So weak.” 🤣

Shoes soaked, pants soaked. Delayed train. Can someone please remind me why I’m schlepping into the office, just to sit on Teams calls with colleagues for whom this isn’t their ‘office day’? Very much open to remote working opportunities. DM me

Just finished watching It’s A Sin (bit late, I know). Utterly brilliant series that had me in tears on multiple occasions. My only criticism is that it wasn’t fooling anyone about it supposedly being set in London, but maybe that’s because I lived in Manchester’s NQ for so long
So we’re now all in agreement that ‘move fast and break things’ doesn’t work and it was a ridiculously stupid mantra in the first place, right? I’m firmly in the ‘if it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing properly’ camp, call me a dinosaur if you want.

I don’t know what it is about the new shade of blue used in LinkedIn’s app icon, but... I really like it.

Remember when, shortly after the election, because they had won seats in Labour heartlands, people thought the Tories would start giving a shit about the North

Seems a bit much that I have to pretend to be a southerner to make this stupid book rhyme. I feel attacked.
In my opinion, Channel 4 News trying to defend itself as part of their interview with @DavidOlusoga about the failures of the TV industry to improve representation both on and off screen was not the most appropriate thing to do. Uncharacteristically disappointing from Channel 4
One for the User Research community: What's your go-to tool for capturing and analysing user research these days? Not the sessions themselves but the analysis of findings. Please and thank you.
It’s been the kind of day that, if I still had a drum kit, I’d beat the shit out of that for a bit. Alas, I am without a drum kit, so a run will have to do

I’m beginning to come round to the idea that COVID-19 might be a conspiracy. A conspiracy to lock George R. R. Martin away for 6 months for him to finish The Winds of Winter already!!!
Inspired by a trip to B&Q earlier today, I’m just going to leave this here...

Working from home milestone. All of my t-shirts are in the wash, so I’m forced into wearing a shirt for work today.
