Everyday I post a morning dog walking music. I think I saw @TheGrindstone3 do it a year ago and I decided to follow suit. It’s given me a healthy structure and focus in the morning. The algorithm can be really useful sometimes. Every morning I walk the puppy, Sampson: 1/2 whippet, 1/2 hound. We go the same route, walking through the woods and circumambulating the old cemetery next door (hell yeah bonus points for the day for using that properly in context and in a sentence!!!) we do 1-3 laps depending on whatever. It’s a gorgeous place. Not only is it still in use, with modern burials too, it’s well maintained and they just added benches. I sat on one for the first time and it’s like I was looking at a miniature map of the village of the past, with each headstone a small house sometimes sharing a parcel with family members over generations. There are some really old ones in here- like Ms. Hannah Tarbox Bacon born in 1768- like before there was even a United States! Andrew Foster born a year later and gone before the Civil War. And a World War I soldier. Anyways, it’s a gorgeous walk, just thought I’d share. And I’m listening to some fantastic remakes by @theonliesband of traditional fiddle songs, including this one from their new album coming out Friday: “Waves on the Sea” from the upcoming album You Climb the Mountain. They’re a fantastic band and I can not wait for the rest of this album to come out. I like the string bands, what can I say?🤷‍♂️ @Philbow55 @DavidinSL @TheKro16 @VanPlating

Johnny Mullenax from Tulsa OK preceded us on the main stage. Insane blend of jazz fusion, jam and red dirt country. Check em out if they come your way.

Happy Sunday everyone! Weekend without the little one adventure: Wife and I decided to go kayaking down the Paw Paw River from Watervliet to Lake Michigan. Of course, that’s not so easy to do when you’re one armed. It was awesome and epic and no one else was on the river. But… there were so many downed trees from the storms Friday to navigate through that it became impassable. So we had to get out in the middle of nowhere. Tried getting an uber, not in the boonies, so we decided to hike the three miles to Coloma MI. My wife who does logistics for a fire territory, asked an EMT for a ride for us and we were able to get back to the car. When we went to go back and get the kayaks we had hidden at our pull out point, they were gone. SIgh, at least we had an adventure! Figure @Wombat_Matt would probably apppreciate the adventure. Also stopped at a road side stand and picked up these amazing Black Eyed Susan’s.Went to the Buchanan Blues Festival in the evening and the headliner was so bad, we left after two songs. But, man, I forgot what life was like when you’re absolved from Dad duties for a few days! #puremichigan #Pawpawriver

Our littlest is off at Girl Scout Camp for the weekend. First completely kid free weekend in 3 years! What do people even do? Went to @LakeMichigan13 @MichiganCoast and watched the sunset from Townline beach in Union Pier. It was epic. Could clearly see the Chicago skyline across the lake. We listened to @brycelewismusic and chilled on the backroads. Such a glorious album. We also listened to the new Bob Wagner. Pretty sure it’s my favorite new release from yesterday. Hope everyone has an amazing Saturday! Thaks @Jaypotta for the music recs! #NewMusic2026 #altcountry #beachvibes

Get to start setting up my classroom today- I’m sure I’ll take pictures. Haven’t done this in a while. I’ve got great background music on. Summer Overstreet, The Women of Cheatham County. I don’t know how I missed this one. it’s incredible! She’s like a mix of Maggie Antone and Carter Faith with similar vocal inflections to Sierra. Her Dads a songwriter and in the Hall of Fame, so shes probably got a little help, but regardless: This is awesome! Good music always makes the day better! @SummerOverstree #newmusic #summeroverstreet #indiecountry

Trying to have a last gulp of relaxation before summer school starts. I’m teaching 3rd grade. Hilarious! I know they’re more in the psychedelia range but i love the band Babe Rainbow. They’ve got a new single out today and it forms the base for a funky playlist I’m making. Happy Thursday everyone, safe travels to all my friends heading to Laurel Cove today. Can’t wait to join y’all next year! #newmusic #baberainbow

The best discovery of our road trip has been a musician called Ella Langley. We had never heard of her before, but after hearing her on pretty much every country radio station, we’ve become big fans. She’s basically the soundtrack of our trip.

15 years ago today. My job: shoot 360 degree interactive panoramas for the archaeologists at the archaic Greek site of Korphos. I did 100’s of sites like this with full immersion. Some were extraordinarily difficult to reach. I like when my photos reminds me of cool stuff I did in the past! Anyways, relistening to this new Thomas Csorba album. Absolutely love it. His writing is exquisite! More music like this please! @thomas_csorba #newmusic #indiecountry #corinth

Follow up on the shoulder: not going well. Pretty sure something is wrong with the surgery. I’m still in constant pain even resting. Had an appointment this morning to check it out and looks like they’re gonna deep dive tomorrow am to see where the issue is. Looks like it will be a long long time until I can paint paint again. I’m missing it. This is a ceiling painting I did in 2012 at Queen of Peace Church in Mishawaka, IN. It’s in a Marian devotional so when you go in, you light a candle and pray in front of a statue of Mary while looking up. Instead of a generic ceiling, I created an optical illusion that you’re looking up to th night sky through a columned buildings roof. The four gospel writers are on pedestals in each of the corners. All done in oil paints on wood panel. Took about three months. I’m aching to do stuff like this again. I’m listening to Sturgill, Life Ain’t Fair and the new Avry Truex album which is amazingly good! His voice is incredible! @avrytruex #newmusic #indiecountry

Listening to some Jason Boland & The Stragglers on the way home from Irish dance. I really love this album, his voice is so rich and the drums are crisp but dirty throughout the whole album. Either way, it always puts me in a good mood! Looks like we got another storm brewing. Gonna sit on the porch and watch it roll in. The air’s so thick I think I might be melting! @BolandStraggler @BolandDrummer
