I wonder when we get to see AI 2.0… Does anyone remember Web 1.0 in the 90s when all we got, for all the hype, was company brochures online? All the early web stuff just duplicated what we did offline. It wasn’t until 15 years after the arrival of html that we finally saw native Web 2.0 apps that couldn’t work offline; that needed a ubiquitous global network of computers and phones to function. Services like Airbnb and Uber. Consumer AI 1.0, like Consumer Web 1.0, is just stuff we have seen before (viz search engines and PowerPoint presentations and email and image generators) but quicker and snazzier, and often less accurate. I am really looking forward to getting past these current, overhyped offerings to real, groundbreaking native AI apps. I wonder how long we will have to wait this time?

I never thought I would be able to experience that massive buzz again. And yet that is what I feel in the web3 community today, at least on the Art side. And it was abundantly evident at our @ToledoMuseum Block Party last weekend.

Toledo was special. I don’t usually write posts like this, but this one deserves it. The first time I heard about Toledo was over dinner in Basel, when @icsimd was telling @0xend and me about the museum’s plans. About 30 minutes in, I realized it was in Ohio, not Spain. I thought I’d been rugged — but I couldn’t have been more wrong. Adam and his team put together an exhibition like no other. It was thoughtful, deliberate, and displayed the art we love in a way that made both artists and collectors proud. It felt like the community had found a new home. On Friday, I saw @SamSpratt’s work through @redbeardnft’s eyes. @joeyldotcom’s documentary helped me see what Benny and so many others already see. I hadn’t truly appreciated the craft and thoughtfulness until now. I was awestruck. Punks brunch on Sunday was one to remember. The venue and community were great, as always, but what made it special was what wasn’t there. I’ve been to at least a dozen brunches — this was the first where I didn’t hear price speculation. No PTSD from the bear market. No nervousness about the future. It felt different. People simply connecting. Looking ahead. Recognizing that the path behind wasn’t easy — and that the path forward will come with new challenges — but still feeling hopeful. And mature. Thank you @nodefnd @mickymalka Becky @NaughtalieStone. Finally, it was great seeing more and more people supporting @gondixyz and the role it plays in the space. Onwards.
